Cask at Kilverts, Hay on Wye. Pours a murky amber-red with a swiftly vanishing white head. Flat as you like; not convinced the conditioning was that great. Caramel, stewed apple and some spice and orange with a little citrus hop: feels like at one point there was an idea for a good beer here, but they never managed to fully realise it and we’re left with a somewhat underflavoured mess of a beer.

Cask @ Bar Fringe, Manchester. Dark amber, too much so for a pumpkin colour, but close enough. Has a tangy floral nose and similar taste. Sour with a smoothness in its texture.
