Lost Horizon is a double IPA featuring Centennial, Chinook, Simcoe, and Calypso hops. It’s definitely on the piney/citrusy/resinous end of the spectrum, quite different from our other hoppy offerings.

Keg at Man in the Moon, Stockholm. Almost clear golden, small head. Papery nose with apricot and ripe fruit. Very sweet with full body and and clean, sticky mouthfeel. Sugar, caramel, paper and peach. Peppery bitter finish. Eh.

On tap at Man in the Moon. Slightly hazy golden with a white head. Aroma of grapefruit, orange and light hay. Similar taste, also notes of malt. The body was medium and the finish rather bitter.

Bottle from BCS. Pours a clear gold with a 2-finger head of foam. Big iyokan nose with lots of pithy white grapefruit, orange zest and light pine aromas. Body feel light for the ABV, but a nice slightly sticky mouthfeel. Orange marmalade-like sweetness at first then slides into a nice pithy bitterness. Well-balanced, but pretty straightforward double IPA.

Rich copper coloured body with a honey glow and a nice, two centimetre tall pure white head. Aroma of hops, earth, pine, resin, syrup and a touch of grass. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong resinous and piney hop flavour with a nice syrup flavour, some light grain and a touch of flowers thrown in, all with a honey and sweet syrupy flavour throughout. Aftertaste is complex and potent with the pine and PNW hops coming through, but well-balanced by the rich syrupy malt and the fruity sweetness. Overall, a very well structured, balanced and even complex Imperial IPA. Great to sample and a nice offering from a brewery that I’ve never seen before. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Tamura’s in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii a few minutes ago on 31-December-2015 for US$6,89 sampled in my condo here in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii on 31-December-2015.

22 oz bottle from Craftshack, poured into a Modern Times tulip. Clear golden yellow with about two fingers of off-white head. Aromas of grapefruit citrus, pine, floral notes, hop oils. Tastes of grapefruit citrus, pine, resin, floral notes, stone and tropical fruit. Medium body with a dry finish. Well masked alcohol. Very nice double IPA. If I’m reading Craftshack’s date sticker right, this is from around September 2015 but it still seems to be holding up pretty well.

On tap at Gourmet Haus during a tap takeover. Orange-gold and hazy with full white head. Overt citrus and pine, with oily resin present. Simcoe and Chinook marry well in the taste.

Bottle thanks to Sarah! Pours a clear deep orange gold with an off white head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has notes of pine and grapefruit with a bit of resin and some sweet grains backing. Flavor has a good amount of resin with pine, a hint of grapefruit and a sweet grain backbone.

22oz bomber pours up with a crystal clear deep gold body that supports a dirty white head of foam. The aroma beckens with inviting malt sweetened spicy onion dankness as well as some mild notes of mango tangelo. The taste delivers juicy citrus and spicy bitter dank onion like earthy hop notes as well as a firm sweet malty base. I’m loving the blend of hops here as they’re a bit juicy, bitter and dank spiciness. I find the boldness of the malt base a little annoying. Pretty darn good but at a price north of ten bones per bomber I will likely spend my money elsewhere next time.
