18/8/2023. Cask at The Dove Street Inn, Ipswich. Pours clear pale golden orange with a small bubbly white head. Aroma of citrus, grass, malt, grapefruit, tropical edge. Moderate sweetness, quite heavy bitterness. Moderate body, soft carbonation. Bitter and just a little bit rough on the finish. Not a big fan.

Half at The Dog. Cloudy golden pour, skin of fine head, solid lacing. Musty, hoppy aroma. Taste is grassy hops, bready malts and a light resinous edge. Creamy body

Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford. Pours a golden amber with a small white head and good lacing. Aroma is fairly vague - just traces of grains and autumn fruits. Much more immediate in the mouth though where it is bitter and hoppy with plenty of flavour. Traditional hops, marmalade and golden syrup are all there, plus hints of pine. Some sweetness right at the start, but this soon vanishes. Finish is bitter and dry. This is very drinkable. PS this is NOT a bitter – it’s an IPA !!

Handpull cask at the Wellington Arms, Bedford. Light gold with a nice little white head. The natural carbonation is strong with this one. Light aroma of grapefruit and grainy malts... ho hum. The initial taste is incredible: sweet with bittering hops battering the edges. Unfortunately the end of the sip is quite bland and somewhat astringent, so taste balances out to a respectable but by no means world-beating 7. Medium to long bitter finish. There’s a moment when this beer is damn near perfect. I just wish that moment was longer.

Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol July 2015. Amber in colour with a decent, off-white, head. Big, bittering hops, a touch of citrus fruitness and some crisp, cereal malts. Ok.
