Bottle from the brewer's own stall at the Bristol Christmas market. Drunk cold. I love Henny & Joe's chai and have had many different things with it in, so I was intrigued to see a cider brewed with it. It's a slightly murky orange-yellow colour with no fizz. You can distinctly taste the two elements here - both the cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon and star anise from the chai, and what feels like quite a decent scrumpy-ish cider, with apple skins, straw and barnyard flavours. Unfortunately, the two really don't seem to go together, and somehow a hint of cough mixture emerges. So overall, great components in themselves, but maybe a different base cider should be used - I'm thinking that something slightly sweeter, stronger and maybe oak-aged might work. Despite this, I still quite enjoyed it because the individual components are excellent.
