Cask at Old Dolphin, Derby. Has a faint aroma of nuts. Surprisingly for a mild, it pours “bitter brown” with a small cream head and good lacing. In the mouth it has a creamy texture with a main flavour of flowery hops. Roast malts and chocolate get a look in too. Finish is slightly bitter. It’s a bit strange for a mild, but otherwise OK.

Cask at the Plough, Radford on 28th September 2018. Almost impenetrably black with light yellow-brown foam and scant lacing. Mildly pungent, roasty aroma. Roasty in-mouth with lightly tangy notes. Sweet berries. A roasty finish with cherry fruits. Engaging texture and medium body.

Cask at the Bell, Waltham St Lawrence. A deep mahogany pour with a thin tan head and a reddish glow; grainy aroma with a slight sourness; sweet, smooth and fruity in the mouth - reminding me the mustard coloured one in the Old English Spangles pack; the finish is sweet and satisfying with a slight warmth. A marvellous mild.
