On tap at Craft & Draft, Amsterdam on 30th November 2024. Rated as a novelty ale. Impenetrably black with tan foam and 360° of full lacing. Sweet and intense liquorice in aroma. Roasty aniseed and liquorice in-mouth, continuing to dominate the finish before broader spiciness builds. Medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel.

Beer In A Box Advent Calendar 2023, 14/24, thuis geprobeerd met NickvdH. Het is een pikzwart bier met een typische trekdrop geur. De smaak is vol drop achtig en ster anijs.
Earlier Rating: 10/22/2018 Total Score: 3.3
Fles thuis geprobeerd met LiekevdV. Het is een donkerbruin bier met een diep rode gloed. Het heeft weinig schuim. De geur is wat vlak, licht drop achtig. De smaak is gebrande mout, drop, zoethout en anijs.

Bottle. Almost black. Malt, salt and licorice in the aroma and flavor. Low on carbon. Malty sweet. Hint of roast. Simple but effective.

16/XII/17 - 33cl bottle @ Erwin's Birthday Party (Zwaantje) - BB: V/2022 (2017-2197) Thank to Didier D. for sharing the bottle!
Clear reddish brown beer, small creamy beige head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: quite some liquorish indeed, pretty roasted, caramel touch, malty. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet, lots of roasted malts, caramel, malty, lots of chocolate, soft bitterness, more roast. Aftertaste: bitter, come liquorish, soft bitterness, hoppy, bit spicy, pretty roasted. Not as much liquorish as I had feared. It actually turned out pretty enjoyable!

Bottle @ home. Black with a medium sized beige head. Smells mint, liquorice, chocolate, coconut. Tastes sweet, roasty, liquorice, slightly coconut. It’s not a bad beer at all but these tastes don’t really work for me. Medium to full body, soft carbo.
