650mL bottle, sent from wilco (thanks a lot, Mike), pours a deep dark orangey amber with a small beige head. Nose is quite infected, with spices, some sour notes, and candied sugar. Flavour is definitely infected, with tomato, spicy chili, sourness, and light fruitiness. Totally messed up - obviously something wrong with this. Terribly infected.

Found this big GLB-standard bottle with wax on the top, and sporting a Project X label, at the brewery. Didn’t know what to expect, of course, but that’s the whole point. Pours a orange-toned brown that’s slightly cloudy. Minimal white head that reduces to a ring fairly quickly. Since I have a slightly stuffy nose today I didn’t expect much smell, but the pungent molasses, vanilla, cloves and cinnamon punches it’s way through. The taste is big, really big. Spiced is the right word. Heavy, heavy on the cinnamon, some cloves, and orange buried in the back. Not overly sweet, which I though might be the case from the nose. The malts are mostly subjugated by the spices. This beer lacks balance, it’s like a gingerbread (wo)man and a cinnamon stick did a little pokey-pokey at the company Xmas party and nine months later here we are. Just a guess that this is the Winter Ale dubbeled up, but it just exacerbated the spices and loses any the subtly that you would get with a typical dubbel. Regardless, thanks for the beer GLB.
