Fermentation activated by lactic bacteria and yeast inoculum, including brettanomyces typical of spontaneous fermentation. Maturation in barrique for 12 months, fresh ramassin (“damascene” plums) added in maceration in Summer. Refermentation in bottle or keg.

On tap at Ma Che Siete. Lover beer Beer brugna 6.2% a sour brown aged in oak with plums. A pinkish brown with a nice head of foam and a tart fruity aroma. The taste is a bracing tangy plum, tart before you get the oak barrel character in the finish. Nicely done.

Aroma: Sour fruit, hay, vinous.

On tap @ What’s Brewing, Stavanger. Pours hazy, brownish golden, with a small rocky head. Aroma is really nice and fruity, with plums, dark fruits, cherries, tannins, wooden barrels and mellow notes of leather. Medium to thin body, with no carbonation. Flavour is tart fruity, with lactic acid, balsamic vinegar and bretty notes, as well as blackcurrants and berries.

2012 edition.
It pours a rusty red murky colour with a 2 finger head of foam.
I get semi sweet plums with a rather massive nose of Brett. Some cider like qualities here to with a dose of vanilla.
The taste is more dominated by Brett than perhaps I like but the fruitiness is quite tasty and the finish is pretty darned dry. Malt wise, I get earthy notes, pretty much all I can pull out.
Medium body and carbonation. Nice mouth feel.
The Brett wears on my palate after a few sips but I’d hardly say this isn’t a very good beer, because it is.

Tap at CBC 2014. Beer in the glass brownish-copper coloured. Small head. Sourish-berry aroma. Starts sweet-fruity, more and more sourish notes, not too intense.Finish milder, well balanced, malty. Nice!

Keg at the Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2014, blue session. 02/05/2014. Aroma is really nice plum and peach. Orange amber colour, no head to speak of. Flavour is nice tart peach, citric acid and some floral aspects. Palate is some acidic tart, medium bodied and moderate carbonation. Decent fruit character.

Bottle split at the Manny G tasting, acquired at Domus Birrae a few years back, 28/06/14. Murky reddish orange/amber with a good sized beige head that eventually dissipates to nyadaa. Nose is bitter fruit skins, rotting orchard tones, earthy, straw, pears. Taste comprises dark berry fruits, straw, earthy, stoned fruit mash, light woody dankness. Medium bodied, fine carbonaion, acidic rinse in the close. Ok sour, not particularly challenging on the palate though, prefer a little more depth than this one offers.

Bottle thanks to Colin. It pours murky deep amber with a minimal off-white head. The nose is woody, wet leaf, mild acidity, red grape and vanilla. The taste is tart, tangy, some acidity, berry skin, sherbet, vinous, wood and earth with a dry, and some acidity on finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. A touch acidic for me, but decent enough.
