Cask at Brunswick, Derby. Pours a very dark reddish brown with minimal off-white head. Nose has some roasted malts discernable, but not much else. Sweet and milky in the mouth. Vanilla is the first flavour to hit, but others follow. Roasted malts, olde English spangles and some hints of liquorice. Finish is quite dry and bitter. Delicate, but rather nice and hides its strength well.

Handpull cask at the Blue Boar, Leicester. Very dark brown, mostly opaque with a loose beige/khaki head. Big chocolate and coffee notes in the aroma. Sweet taste with a harsh vegetal character which really. Ruins what may have been an otherwise good beer (shame as it is fresh on as well). Thick body with soft carbonation. Still drinkable but passable as opposed to excellent.
