Bottle from The Gull, North Vancouver
Clean amber color. The aroma is a bit earthy, perfumy, vegetables, malt. Lean body, maybe a bit oily, the malt flavor is ok, a bit shallow, it has hints of oak, spirit, fudge; the alcohol is well masked.
Nice, balanced, nothing complicated though.

Golden-amber. Not much head. There's a lot of oak, a lot of sugars and a lot of alcohol. On the palate, softer and lighter than expected, and than on the nose. There's a nice vinous note in the finish. Nothing harsh or offensive, but I'm not sure there's anything truly compelling either.

750ml bottle at Matt's. Vintage 2017. Pours an almost clear copper wit a tan head. Aroma is fruity, very sweet, with esters. Similar taste, no barrel aging evidence for me. Meh.

750mL bottle, pours a deep dark cherry reddish brown with a small beige head. Aroma brings out dark cherries, cognac liqueur, toasted caramel, toffee and bready malt. Flavour is quite complex, with lots of cognac barrels, toasted caramel, toffee and some brown sugar. Pretty authentic, with a medium sweet, brown sugar, and caramel character on the finish. Really nicely done.
