33cl bottle conditioned, from Cotteridge Wines: poured into a Hannan Alt glass at home on 12th July 2015. Slight haze to the reddy brown body, thin off-white head on top of both pours. Mild nutty feel to the malty aroma and taste. Semi-sweet with a good bitter backbone: drying finish. Decent.

Bottle 330ml (AbM)
Deep amber color, small steady off-white head, some lace. Nutty aroma with some caramel. Light to medium-bodied. Malty, bready and nutty with spicey hoppyness in the finish. More English vibe than German.

330ml bottle. Clear, dark , deep copper colour with average, thick, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Fruity, malty aroma, notes of red berries, lingonberry especially. Taste is dry, nuttily malty, slightly floral hoppy overtones, some red berry remnants survive. Funny.

Bottle split with Sarah at the cock tavern. Copper/ reddy colour with small halo of off white head. Aroma is toasty nutty malts, dried fruits, cranberry and clean lager yeast profile. Flavour is more jam on brown toasted bread. Crisp and chalky in the finish. Palate is slightly sweet but drys out really nicely which begs another dip. Lingering dried fruit and toasted malts. Really solid and very drinkable alt. Bravo.

330ml bottle bought at BottleDog. Unclear coal dark coloured body. Lasting beige head. Fair lacing. Modest smell of brown malts. Also brown malty flavours added by a touch of dried fruits. Slightly roasted ending, rather sweet. On an average level, more or less (hotel room, London 27.09.2014)

330ml bottle from an off-license somewhere in Hackney. Pours dark brown with small off-white head. Nutty malt aroma. Taste is a little lacklustre, very mild nutty elements, some faint dried fruits but all a bit bland and verging into Mild territory.

Bottle at home in London - sourced from Kris Wines. Pours a mostly clear, rich mahogany with a sturdy, frothy khaki head. Great aroma, lots of robust, lightly toasted bready malts, hints of toffee and brown sugar, some ripening fruits, plum, berries. Medium sweet flavor with nice caramel character, hints of cocoa, leathery fruits, wood, hazelnut, earth. Light to medium bodied with average carbonation and massaging texture. Nicely balanced on the finish with further brown sugar, toasted bread, toffee and creamy caramel, ripe berries, dates, mild leafy, earthy bitterness. Great stuff. I quite liked it.

Bottle from Bottledog drunk on a train. Cloudy dark brown lasting thick dark beige head. So I have bfeen to Dusseldorf twice and know my way around an Alt. And this is decent on first impressions. Fresh brown malt on the aroma. Spicy hop on the finish. It’s got chocolate biscuit and some hop. Pretty good recreation of the style. Tasty. No faults just good beer. I liked it.
