Shakespeares Head Spoons. Cask. Pretty much a clear amber beer, tidy off white bubbly head. Palate is light and semi dry. Decent fine carbonation. Light malts, unsweet toffee. Floral bitterness. Tangy dried fruits, mild apple. Light finish. Too appley and lacks richness and complexity for an old ale.

Hand-pulled half-pint in my local Wetherspoons on 25th Sep 2014. Poured a good mahogany colour with a creamy head in both colour and texture. Malts rule this brew with treacle notes and Rye like flavours dominant in the taste. OK and different, interesting in fact.

Cask at the Milton Keynes Beer Festival 2013. Poured a clear, dark amber colour with a thin off white head. Malty aroma with some dark fruit and treacle. Good thick mouth feel. Flavour of prunes, sponge cake and dark malts. Finishes with port, molasses and some dry rye bread. Nice old ale.

Cask at the Theatre Bar, Birmingham. Dark ruby red pour with a big frothy head. Not so much in the aroma but the flavour makes up for that. The malty flavour really dominates this beer and there is little else, but the flavour is so good that I have few complaints. You could almost chew this beer! There is a hint of bitterness on the palate, but who cares!
