Keg @ Tom's Tap & Brewhouse, Crewe. Black with an off-white creamy head. Good mild style with a very full body given its strength. Some roasted, and a hint of toasted too.

Keg at Tom's Tap, Crewe, 26/01/24. Extremely dark mahogany brown with a beige cap that thins to the edge. Nose is toffee, dark malts, cocoa sprinkle, dried fruits. Taste comprises tobacco, brown bread, light charr, toffee, dried fruit rinds. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Tidy mild ... best beer on show at the taproom.

Cask at Hops, Crewe. Pours almost black with a sizeable cream head and good lacing. Malts, caramel and biscuits are the mainstays of the aroma. In the mouth it is quite sweet with malts again to the fore alongside traces of chocolate and ginger. Later on the alcoholic strength starts to show through plus hints of caramel. Finish is slightly sweet and quite boozy. This is quite decent, but I think I preferred the “single” version.

Cask at Petersgate Tap, Stockport. Pours deepest brown towards black with a tan foam. Aroma: sweet toasty malts, chocolate. coffee hints. Taste: moderate sweet & light to moderate bitter, rich & full bodied. More like a stout or porter but it was very good.
Everything I like about the Dark Mild, amped up. Love it!
