It’s summer, time for cricket bats and Belfry! Small batch brewed for the Great British Beer Festival! Pale beer made with 100% North American Cascade hops, used in many American Pale ales. Characteristic fruity, floral aromas. Smooth biscuit flavours and lots of citrus, some grapefruit and a hint of spiciness. Long, smooth, lingering bitter finish. A crisp, refreshing beer.

Golden ale with loose, snow white head and clear golden blonde colour. Weakish aroma, some bready malts, flowers, white pepper, apple, grass but also an unpleasant H2S odour (stale urine)... Plain pale malt sweetishness in the mouth, subdued fruitiness (more malt fruitiness than yeast fruitiness), touch bready, becoming more vegetable-like in the finish with a light amount of grassy hoppiness. This type of light and relatively uncomplicated session beers has to be absolutely flawless to delight, and unfortunately that is not the case here.

Chelmsford Beer Festival. Cask. Light haze on this pale gold beer, thin white head. Palate is light with decent fine carbonation. Light smooth pale malts. Mild floralness. Orange and orange marmalade. Touch of pith. Light dry finish. A tad dry but it feels fresh and it’s tasty.
