This rich amber coloured ale is smooth on the palate with a lingering bitterness and generous, fruity late hop aroma.

Cask at Bedford Arms, Bedford. Reddish mid-brown. Clear with a little white head. Not a lot of aroma: oak, Merlot, a fair bit of malt. Bitter hop-led taste, which is surprising considering the malt-heavy aroma. Bit of tart fruit. Dry finish. A workaday beer from a brewery that can do better.

Cask at the Crispin, Wokingham. Poured a brilliantly clear coppery amber colour with a thin white head; the aroma has some muted fruit; the flavour is predominantly biscuity malts with a touch of fruit; and a clean, dry finish leaving a biscuity aftertaste. Very drinkable.
