Amber Hoppy Ale.

The world these days is full of pale hoppy beers, and this of course is one of them. Amber-coloured, full of hops from the good ole’ U S of A, and named in honour of the joust tourneys there were many moons ago held on Therfield Heath. It also aptly the described the attack on the taste buds from the hops. Surprisingly popular with lager drinkers (see, they do have tastebuds sometimes), and far hoppier than many a lauded hoppy beer. Just proves the point that we’re still quietly getting on and doing what many a brewery can seemingly only shout about.

Cask @ Olde Fighting Cocks, St Albans. Deep clear golden with a thin head. Pale ale with a mild floralness amongst its dry hoppy-fruity character.

Cask @ Bedford Arms, Bedford. Light brown with a thin white head. Generous lacing on the glass. Lovely scent of floral and citrus hops. Gorgeous. Taste is full-on sweet at first, only turning to bittersweet in the finish. This is a very nice pint, especially in light of the session ABV.
