Beet Root Stout. This multi-layered Stout is a “mash up” of Nanaimo’s farm community and our breweries desire to source locally.
Lactic beet mash, cold steep and step mash combined with local barley and hops makes this a far out subculture Stout.

Dark brown, thin head. Earthy aroma, light chocolate. Tart, with just a touch of fruity dark sugars. So the tartness is a bit odd, more than I would prefer, but it’s a fun attempt. If you’re going to left field, you need to have fun, and I think this does.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Black color with brown head. Good aroma of roasted malts. The mouthfeel is too weak, there is some roasted malt flavor, but acidulated to the point of being unpleasant; no evidence of beets, thanks god.
Subpar Stout.
