Cask at Bird in Hand, Stafford. Pours a golden yellow with a small foamy off-white head and good lacing. Aroma is just a vague hint of oranges. In the mouth it has a creamy texture and is slightly sweet. Flavours are mainly malts, grains and crusty bread rolls. Later on hoppy bitterness starts to appear and it is this which dominates the dry finish. It’s OK, if a little bland.

Pours a clear light amber colour with a small bubbly off white head. Aroma is malty, some caramel and citrusy fruit. Moderately sweet malt taste, some red fruit flavours and a pleasant bitterness. Long bone dry finish, a bit watery but a pleasant drop.

Bottle from Glen Park Hotel, Ayr. Appearance - golden with a decent head. Nose - earthy and savoury. Kitchen smells? Then red fruits. Taste - caramel biscuits. Red fruits again. Palate - light tomedium bodied with a creamy yet crunchy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - yeah good ale. Not a golden ale. It’s a bitter.

Cask. Portland House, Sheffield. Clear gold. Thin, dense, sticky, white head. Fruity malts. Soft, citric hop. Some bready, yeasty notes. Taste is privet leaf bitter. Malt sweetness. Light body. Grassy bitter finish. Ok.

Mini Keg from The Real Ale Store, Newark. Golden colour with a white head. Aroma has plenty of citrus, taste light sweet with a light bitter finish. Very easy to drink session beer.

Cask (gravity) @ Nottingham Robin Hood Beer Festival (2014), Nottingham Castle, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England NG1 6EL. [ As Welbeck Abbey Harley ].Clear medium orange color with a small to average, frothy - fizzy and open, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramle, pale malt, fruity malt. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a long duration, fruity, pale malt, malty, hoppy, caramel. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20141009]
