Intrigued enough by the peanut butter version of this, I figured I better try the regular version.
This was poured into an English pint glass.
The appearance was a two finger off white to tan foamy head that rose above the glass in a rocky sort of way. It dissipated within about a minute. Light lacing was in and around the glass.
The smell sounded off with a subtle roast breaking through a robust cocoa flavor. Light bitter coffee bean melds into the aroma.
The taste moderately lingered between roasty coffee and cocoa beans.
On the palate, this one has a nice medium bodied feel letting the robust lay it down cold on my tongue.
Overall, I’d say this was a good porter that I would have again.

Keg pour at NH Brewfest. Appearance is opaque black pour, beige ring of head, decent lacing. Aroma is roasted malt. Taste is a little smoky, with some bitterness, and sweet chocolate. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with thin texture, finish is nice mix of balanced bitter and sweet. Overall, solid porter all around. Generally, I like a porter to have a little heavier body/texture, but there is something nice about having a full flavored beer that isn’t quite as heavy.

Cask gravity at GBBF 2015. It pours darkest brown-black with a light tan head. The nose is smooth, rich-roast, coffee, bitter-sweet vibe, bubblegum, umami, chocolate cake and dark berry/fruit. The taste is rich, oily, roasted malt, toast, charred wood, tar, pepper, chocolate and burnt cake with a dry, roasty finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Pretty punchy and flavoursome. Tasty stuff.
