The next in our series of single hop low strength pales features hop varietal, HC630.
This experimental hop variety is relatively new on the scene and is the perfect accompaniment to the New England style. Offering bright notes of berries and sweet candy-like esters, then finishing with creamy notes of peach.

Can at home, from HOTM online, 26/11/23. Hazed orange with a good sized lasting just off white head. Nose is tangerine, ripe melon, grass, bread dough, herb, mandarin. Taste comprises orange zest, grass, light perfume, soft malts, papaya, melon, light floral ride. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close spliced with juicy come moderately grassy hop bitterness. Tidy enough pale.

Can. Hazy gold beer, good bubbly white head. Airy palate, semi dry, fine minerally carbonation. Thin malts, a mild sweetness. The HBC630 hops are not as candyish dominant as I would normally expect, possibility because of the crisp pine and mildly nibbly hop spice. Juicy bright citrus mixed with the requisite candy, slightly berryish here. More obviously berry than the Belma and Idaho 7 IPA from Cloudwater that preceded this beer. Smooth finish, finds the berry element becoming slightly tangy. A slightly different presentation of this off-the-wall hop and one I enjoyed.
