Bottle from Old Town. Pours a deep brown to black with a finger of beige foam that lingers. Milk chocolate aromas with some chocolate cookie and soy sauce notes. Creamy and soft on the palate with a roasty bitterness that comes out. Roasty finish that lingers.

Bottle from Colonial Spirits. Pours a solid dark brown with faint garnet at the edges and a frothy creamy tan head that persists. Roasted coffee milk on the nose with faint chocolate dark fruit and earth. Creamed coffee and light dried fruit wrapped in a creamy bubbly mouthfeel. Pretty damn tasty.

Bottle. A- Chocolate, caramel, cake, subtle smoke. A- Black color, black liquid, light brown head. T-Cocoa, slightly watery, subtle smoke. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, roasty finish. O- Pretty fair but not extraordinary. A bit more roasty and smoky notes than I’d have presumed would be in here and not near as sweet. Overall it drank fine but wasn’t a wowzer.

Bottle pour into nonic pint glass. Aroma is light roasted malts, milk chocolate, dark fruits, coffee. Appearance is dark brown with some reddish-orange at the edges, 1/2 finger width foamy light brown head that dissipates quickly and fair lacing. Taste has more roasted quality than aroma, moderately strong sweet and bitter balance, more chocolate dominant than coffee. Palate is medium-to-full bodied with thick texture, above average carbonation and pleasant long bitter finish. Overall, this is smooth, rich and delicious without being too heavy.
