Snap! You just captured an unfiltered wheat beer full of refreshment and a flash of tart at the finish. Smile-inducing aromas of citrus hops jump from the nose, accompanied by the sweetness of coriander and grains of paradise. Brewed with wheat and pale malt, Snapshot pours a hazy, lemon-yellow with bright-white lacing. But the real enticement is the snap of tart. New Belgium’s affinity for sour beers led to the in-process blending of lactobacillus to pucker up Snapshot’s base. An extra step to acidify and beautify and get this beer ready for its close up.

I tried to pretend this was a real wheat beer. I poured it into my Weihenstephan glass, it filled it up nicely, blooming a large white foamy head in the bulb. But it sure looked weird. It was a pale yellow color, though almost appropriately cloudy. Smelled of something. Tasted of something. I guess wheat. OK seriously, maybe a little lemon too. The glass only reminded me why American wheats are such let downs compared to a hefeweizen.

Very hazy golden coloured body with a rich, five centimetre tall tan head at top - very nice. Aroma of alcohol, malt, wheat, lemons, herbs and a bit of coriander seed. Light to Medium-bodied; Assertive orange and curacao flavour with a lot of wheat and yeast noticeable and a very mild herbal and grassy flavour at the end. Aftertaste shows a pleasant lemon and citrus flavour with some subdued wheat notes and the faintest hint of yeast. Overall, a very nice and light beer with a lot of citrus and herbal notes and a smooth sweetness - very good to try. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Giant Food in Falls Church, Virginia on 13-February-2014 for US$1.83 sampled at home in Washington on 07-April-2014.

On tap at the magic tree. Looks like cloudy lemonade. Smell is a little like wet hay, in a good way. Decent cutting co2 all round. Comes across quite creamy on the tongue. Easy going and fun, very like able. A nice beery experience. Very mild and easy going through the session. Glad to have tried this! very Glad! A civilized refined brew fer sure!.

12oz bottle pours with an opaque pale gold body that also has some slight copper hues while supporting an off white head. The mild aroma has faint banana notes that linger with a touch of sugary sweetness until some wheat and grainy malts mixed with a light lemon note come forward. The taste is soft on the palate and gets lightly sweet. It quickly sends out a short spike of lemon before it gets into a bit of doughiness and light spicy yeast notes. Decent enough where there is a nice balance.

Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours hazy light gold with a white head. Aroma seems wheaty with possibly a hint of citrus. Med minus body. Flavor is a little yeasty/wheaty with some citrus. The citrus is indeed a bit tart. The flavors are pleasant, but not strong. Probably goes down well on a hot summer day.

Draft at the DC Craft Beer Festival. Poured a hazy yellow color with a medium sized white head. Aroma was some lemon, yeast, wheat notes. Flavor was some crisp, lemon, notes. Flavor was nice light citrus. Easy to drink. Enjoyable.
