The Herbalist is a new collaboration beer brewed in Southwold by Adnams Head Brewer, Fergus Fitzgerald, and Magic Rock Head Brewer, Stuart Ross. As a homage to Saison du Buff (a three way collaboration beer brewed by Dogfish Head, Stone and Victory breweries) this beer has plenty of complex, spicy flavours from the use of Saison yeast blended with our Adnams yeast, which are balanced by bags of citrus and tropical fruit aromas from the bold New World hops. To back up these fruity flavours, and because it seemed like fun, we’ve added four herbs which add even more fruity flavours to this bold beer.

Cask-conditioned at the Crown, Clerkenwell 19/11/2017. SLightly hazy and golden in colour, with a slight, off-white, head. Green herbs aplenty, yeast grains, some stone fruits, leafy hops and a moderately bitter finish. Enjoyable.

Cask at Rose & Thistle, Frimley Green. Grassy herbal aroma, with a citrus edge. Medium gold. Frothy white head, on the thin side. Medium bitter. The herbs are very prominent. Sweet undertow. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Soft carbonation. Dry finish. Lives up to it's name. Does n' t over do it though. Enjoyable. Refreshing.

On cask @ the Haymarket. Golden with a nice head. There’s a big herby thing going on alright and that seems to work well with the citrus and spice coming from the saison yeast. Light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Good ale!

Cask handpump at The Trocadero, Birmingham, Monday 4th January 2016. Pours gold, good sparkle and look to this beer, a white slim head sits atop. Some pineapple cubes on the nose, good fresh beer, soft mouthfeel, a little pineapple in the mouth also, it’s very good. Excellent beer and served in spankingly good nick. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.8

Cask, shared with Finn at Falcon, Battersea. Low bubbly white head. Hazy dark golden body. Fruity nose with a touch of ginger. Flavoured of ginger fruit, wet wool and yeast. Crispy and drying mouth feel. Not my kind of beer (London 29.11.2015).

Fra cask på Falcon Clapham Junction 29 Nov 15. Delt med Rune. Lys aprikosfarget. Filmskum. Krydret fruktaroma. Ser ut som saft. Smaken skarpt krydret. Kardemomme? Litt tørr etter hvert. Ikke god.
