Second Date Imperial Oatmeal Stout with Medjool Dates pours an opaque black with a thick, dark brown head. It smells like a mocha, with chocolate taking the forefront, coffee, toffee & vanilla all layering in underneath. It is full & creamy, but also deceptively drinkable. The dark chocolate creeps to the back to the palate as the other flavours come out. The Medjool Dates bring out a dense fruitiness, as you detect additional aromas of figs, prunes, and a hint of dark cherry.

473mL can, pours jet back with a medium dark brown head. Nose is full of roasted malt, a little vanilla, some dried dark fruits, and mocha. Flavour is rich and roasty, with thick roasted malt, dates, light vanilla, mocha, and some earthy notes. Thick, somewhat sludgy palate, with a finish of roast and dark fruit. Fairly monstrous on the palate. Not the most complex impie out there, but it's reasonably well-made.

Chocolate in the nose. Soft mouthfeel, moderately sweet; salt, umami and a touch of liquorice for flavour.

Black colour, medium beige head. Good body strength, with moderate sweetness, and hiding the alcohol quite well; it's moderately roasty, with a touch of liquorice and salt, some umami; also, a bit too much cardboard and soy sauce.
Good.

Can, from Firefly. Dark brown. Thin head. The aroma is all dark fruits and sugars - molasses, burnt sugars, raisins, prunes. No dates, actually. On the palate, this has a really nice richness. Bold fruit notes like caramelized prunes, deep dark sugary accents, good balancing bitterness and acidity. This is a well-rounded imperial stout, reminds me a bit of Sam Smith's. I really appreciate this old school no bullshit approach - which is funny because it's got dates in it, but I really don't taste or smell those anywhere. I'd love an Omani halwa variant of this beer (i.e. smoked, cardamom, rosewater, etc.).

473 ml can. Pours black with full dark tan head. Aromas of dark sweet fruit and slick roasted malts. Flavors of rich fruity chocolate, sweet figs, and oily roasted malts. Very nice.
