Mosaic Farmhouse IPA

The third release of our hop rotator, Dew Point, features Mosaic hops. Each release features a single specific variety of hops, rotating periodically based on varieties that excite us at any given time.

In this edition of Dew Point, “New World” hops meet our favourite saison yeast and several strains of brettanomyces to create a wonderfully transatlantic style of beer. Bright citrus and tropical fruit from the Mosaic hops contrasts beautifully with the crisp fruit and mild funk of our mixed-culture fermentation profile. Brewed and canned at our brewery in Kelowna, BC.

Tasting at Ryan's, can
Hazy golden colour, large creamy head. Strong passion fruit aroma. High level of harsh, pithy bitterness, mostly unpleasant in the finish, but also muting the malt flavour.
Overpowering Brett, unbalanced, not very good, despite the nice aroma.

Poured from 473mL can. Golden orange with white head. Farmhouse, brett, citrus and touch of pine hops. Okay.

16oz (thx, Matt!) @ Ryan's. Appearance: hazy golden with a white head. Aroma: funky, a bit sweet, juicy. Taste: very bitter coming from Brett that's overpowering everything for me in this beer, resinous, some fruits. Overall: nah, thx.

473mL can, pours a hazy bright orange with a medium white head. Aroma brings out farmhouse notes, citrus hops, some tropical fruits, and biscuity malt. Flavour is funky, with lots of bretty funk, citrusy hops, a bit of pine, and crisp biscuity malt. Funky and hoppy in good cohesion. I disagree with Oakes — I like the brett presence here. A bit harsh as bitter, but it works pretty well.

Hazy amber, with a big frothy head. Fairly phenolic aroma, with a light stone fruit hop note. This has a fairly bitter hop taste, but also a lot of sweet malts, and again a bit of phenol from the yeast. There's not much brett in there if any, at least not yet.
