Dark brown. Medium head. The hazelnut jumps out of the glass, with some vanilla. Coffee is fairly restrained on the nose. On the palate, lots of vanilla, hazelnuts and more. The body isn't all that big for a beer this size, but it's enough, at least in terms of sugars. The toasty nut accent is a strength, and complements the base beer fairly well.

1 pint can. Pours a very dark brown with a short tan head that settles quickly. Aromas of black coffee, hazelnut and roasted malts. Flavours of vanilla, sweetened dark chocolate, sweet coffee, and oily roasted malts. Sugary with a warm finish.

16 oz. can, pours jet black with a small dark brown head. Aroma is loaded with intense coffee, followed by a touch of vanilla, and maybe a touch of toasted nuts. Flavour is rich, with intense coffee, a little vanilla, and a hint of toasted nuts. The coffee is the most dominant adjunct by far, accentuated by a nice dark fruitiness. A little thin on the palate, but I'm down on the flavours. Good, but not elegant and complex.

Can from The Gull, North Vancouver
Dark brown colour. Aroma of sweet chocolate, light vanilla, roasted hazelnuts. Sweet, some milk chocolate, gentle vanilla and hazelnuts spread. I like sweet Imperial Stouts, but there's not much depth or complexity here (39).

Pint can pours with a nice deep dark colored body that supports a mocha colored head of foam. The aroma offers up chocolate that quickly leads to a pleasing vanilla note and sweetened oily smelling fresh nutty rich coffee. Nice. The taste delivers rich smooth slick yum that goes from chocolate to smooth rich sweetened oily dark roasted nutty coffee and then what seems like fresh vanilla bean. There's only mild malt roastiness as well as somehow only a mild level of booziness for this huge beer. Well crafted sipper. Wow.
