A beer within the New Nordic beer project and at the same time a wink to the lovely historic sours of Germany. A Lactobacillus blueberry thirst quencher that brings that forest feeling to wherever you are. Jam!
Forget what the label says. The label is wrong. Even though this could be seen as a nordic version of a Berliner Wiesse the name on the label is wrong because sometimes shit happens. So, what is the beer called? Blåbärliner, playing on the Swedish words blå and bär which mean blue and berry. Why? Well because this beer is jam packen full of blueberries. Just like we like ’em. A beer within the New Nordic beer project.

Trevlig.

On tap at What’s Brewing. A reddish beer with a dense, off-white head. The aroma has crackers, red berries and butterdough, unusual indeed, but good. It’s acidic on the palate, dry and medium bodied, with a fine carbonation level. Sour berries and almost flavors. A refreshing beer. Good in a strange way, but I think it would be quite challenging to use it a refresher. 141101

Keg at the CP&K, 26/11/14. Opaque claret with a decent crimson covering that literraly vanished between the barman passing me it and it landing on the bar! Nose is tangy berries, blueberry prominent, straw, light must. Taste comprises more red berries, tangy blueberry, berry sherbets. Medium bodied, spritzy carbonation, semi drying close with a light acidic wash and semi puckerings. Decent refreshing red berry ’Linner.

Keg at CASK. It pours cloudy deep purple with a quickly dissipating head. The nose is earthy, grainy, barnyard, manuir, lactic, mild vinegar and dirt. The taste is tart upfront, then blueberry, sherbet, fruit compote, punchy acidity, sour candy, lactic bite and good mouth-pucker with a lingering dry-tart finish. Light-medium body and fine carbonation. Pretty dirty on the nose, but it sure packs a punch flavour-wise. Perhaps a touch too acidic. Alright fruited Berliner.

Bottle 330ml (AIH40)
Murky pinky color, small pinky head. Funky tart, berryish aroma. Light-bodied. Very tart, bilberries are there. Notes of strawberries too. Lingering tartness in the aftertaste. Lots of taste for this ABV.
