A beer within the New Nordic beer project and at the same time a wink to the lovely historic sours of Germany. A Lactobacillus blueberry thirst quencher that brings that forest feeling to wherever you are. Jam!
Forget what the label says. The label is wrong. Even though this could be seen as a nordic version of a Berliner Wiesse the name on the label is wrong because sometimes shit happens. So, what is the beer called? Blåbärliner, playing on the Swedish words blå and bär which mean blue and berry. Why? Well because this beer is jam packen full of blueberries. Just like we like ’em. A beer within the New Nordic beer project.

Keg at Craft Clerkenwell. Nice and fruity. Nice sourness at the end. Blueberry dominates. Easy drinking and very refreshing. Very tart.

01.11.2014, tap sample @ What's Brewing:
Big creamy longlasting head, nice reddish color. Aroma is slightly sweet fruity, winegum, blueberries, butterscotch, grass, berry skin, weeds, heather, yoghurt. Taste is slightly dry sour-ish, unripe blueberries, raw rhubarb, grass, sorrel, berry skin, soda powder, weeds. Medium bitterness, slightly dry sour-ish mouthfeel. Nice.

(Bottle) Reddish purple colour with frothy, pinkish white head. Fruity, sourish nose with notes of blueberries, white bread, lactic acid and a touch of blueberries in cream. Fruity, tart taste with blueberries, white bread, some vinegar and a dry and tart finish with hardly any bitterness. Light body, dry. Refreshing with a generous blueberry character, but the sourness gets a bit aggressive. Quite enjoyable.

Bottle 33 cl. Beautiful clear red colour with a pink head. Odd, farty aroma. Light body, very heavy carbonation, dry, tart, sulphurous, clearly lactic - almost salty - with a clear berry edge. Refreshing I guess. Sort of a sour pop. 190815

Nice light unclear red-ish color with a pink-ish head. Fresh lactic and fruity aroma. Solid body for an ale at 3,6%. Nice balance between sweetness and acidity. Mild nice blueberry profile in the flavour. Nice fruity and lactic. Nice tasty and refreshing ale!

Bottled, from Systembolaget. Clear purple, fizzy without head. Vinegary nose. Really sour with light body and clean mouthfeel. Vinegar, notes of metal and slight notes of that generic dull fruitiness that blueberries brings. No bitterness. Modern berliner weisses aren’t my cup of tea, nor are blueberries. Sour without finesse. Aggressive, but without flaws.
