Good but not great BA impie. Lacks smoothness of best.

2022-03-08, bottle from The Gull, North Vancouver, 7-4-8-4-17=40
Black colour. Cacao and burnt sugar character, with an intriguing spirit note, it comes across more like brandy than bourbon; the best characteristic here is the smooth mouthfeel, that elevates the flavour components; traces of tar, of burnt chestnuts, that create a slightly dry finish.
A very good job, for a non-adjunct beer.

Black colour. Some chocolate, it's a bit sour for the style, they let those dark malts creep in, not complex, some dark chocolate, almost no Bourbon.
It's good, but nothing spectacular.

Dark brown. Not so much head. Aroma quite fruity, some cola. On the palate, it's rich and sticky with molasses notes. Still some dark fruit accents, and that seems to liven up the body a bit. The barrels lend a touch of vanilla, and it's got a touch of booziness in the finish. I like it better than last year's.

Bottle at Weathered 2022. Dark brown with minimal beige head. Coffee, roast, nuts, chocolate. All the flavours are there, but it’s just really muted and almost bland…

A pour at I hope not a super spreader event Weathered. Appearance: brown with a dark beige head. Aroma: roasted malts with weird savory notes. Taste: along the same lines, savory and chocolatey. Overall: weird, meh.

500mL bottle, pours jet black with a tiny light brown head. Aroma is full of oak, vanilla, bourbon barrels, and moderate roast. Flavour is rich, with lots of oak and vanilla upfront, followed by bourbon and gentle cocoa. Oily, silky mouthfeel, with a really viscous character. It's not the most complex or layered BA impie, but it's very solid.
