Dark amber, not much head, a bit sweet, fruity, some burnt phenols on the palate that shouldn’t be there.

Sample at the tap room. Clear orange-gold color with a thin white head that diminishes quickly to a sparse outer ring. Small patches of lacing. Roasted malt, caramel and hops in the nose. Light-bodied with a caramel malt character and notes of fruit and earthy hops. The finish is sweet with a malty aftertaste.Decent overall.

Cask (gravity) @ GBBF 2014, Great British Beer Festival, London Olympia, Hammersmith Road, London, England W14 8UX. [ As Santiam Spitfire ESB ].Clear medium amber color with a small, fizzy, virtually none lacing, fully diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, sweet malt, nutty, caramel, candy, woody notes. Flavor is moderate sweet with a long duration, sweet malt, sugary, candy, dark - brown malt. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery and sticky, carbonation is flat. [20140814]

On cask and tap at the brewery. Pours a clear amber color with a small white head. The aroma is light pine. The flavor is rich perfume, fresh hops. Very good.

Draft at the Great British Beer Festival 2014, Day 3 - London. Pours clear amber with a white foam head. Pretty classic stuff, nice bready malts and dried fruits. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Further lightly toasted bready malts to finish, fruits, mild leaves. Solid work from a US brewer.

From cask. Pours clear and golden orange with a small off white head. Aroma is toasted malty, light fruity. Bitter, fruity and light herbal. Toasted dry malty. Bitter herbal finish.

Cask gravity @ GBBF 2014. Pours an amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty caramel hoppy aroma. Fruity malty caramel hoppy bitter flavor. Has a fruity malty caramel hoppy bitter finish.

Gravity dispense at GBBF ’14, day 4, 15/08/14. Clear chestnut brown with moderate beige spotting and edgeing. Nose is toffee, dark malts, light nutty vibes, biscuit. Taste comprises caramel, biscuit malt, brown sugars, faint spice, brown bread. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, semi drying close with light bitterness and orchard fruit traces. Ok.
