A new language of yeast-driven IPA is emerging and Dageraad wants to add to the vocabulary. These IPAs are driven by new strains of yeast that can transform odorless compounds in hops and grain into vividly fruity thiols, changing understated old world hops into fruit bombs.

New Slang is a series of new IPAs where we will explore combinations of yeasts and ingredients to see what new taste experiences we can create.

New Slang 03 is brewed with lemon peel and dry-hopped with Galaxy and Huell Melon.

Poured from the tap. Cloudy blonde with full white head. Melon hops, mild underlying fruitiness, slightly muted quality. Okay.

Slight haze, amber colour. Low bitterness and medium fruitiness. Fairly clean malts. Light melon, hint of pear. The malt base helps, and even compensates for that low bitterness. The fundamental brewing talent of Dageraad shows here, even if it’s not as bright as the first couple of these.

On tap at Dageraad, pours an opaque cloudy yellow with a medium white head. Aroma brings out a decent white wine tangy hop character, light citrus and biscuity malt. Flavour is fairly bright, with bitter citrus hops, light tanginess, and a muffled earthiness. A bit obscured and not as vibrant as the other two versions. But still solid.

Can from The Gull, North Vancouver
Cloudy pale blond colour. Delicate fruit aroma, melon. Dry mouthfeel, no chalk, but there's a bit of flour feeling, yeast esters, light fruit from the hop, and some astringency.
It's ok.
