Eggnog Stout

Rum Diary is our take on the timeless rum & eggnog, a sweet stout brewed with cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla and natural rum flavouring. While the lactose addition brings forth a smooth mouthfeel, adding rye and oats takes things a bit further to a level of creaminess. This beer is well-rounded with accents of spice, cozy vanilla sweetness and a hint of rum.

Can from The Gull, North Vancouver
Dark colour, near black, with beige head. Aroma of chocolate and spices, intense. It's highly carbonated, which impacts the mouthfeel, leaner than the ABV would suggest; the sweetness is very mild; brown sugar, caramel, touch of milk chocolate, spices; low bitterness, some alcohol feeling.
Not bad, the concoction becomes almost fruity.

355 ml can. Pours a very dark brown with full tan head. Strong aromas of nutmeg, allspice, and cinnamon overpower vanilla and roasted malts. Flavors follow same on a thin roasted malts base.

355mL can, pours black with a large beige head. Aroma mostly brings out the nutmeg upfront, with a bit of odd rum and cinnamon spice -- what the hell. Flavour is I guess somewhat reminiscent of an eggnog, with lots of rum, buttery creaminess, light cinnamon, nutmeg, and some vanilla. This is very bizarre and actually executes pretty well on what is a terrible idea. I'm not into this, but I admit it's brewed pretty well for what it is.

Dark brown. Sweet, some cinnamon spiciness, soft body, rounded malts and a bit of molasses. Not bad.

Poured from the tap. Near black with small beige head. Lactose, vanilla, subtle spice and rum. Decent job and hitting the rum and eggnog quality. Lighter medium bodied, don’t see this being one to keep for trades.
