Antithesis was brewed in the classic style of a Czechia tmave pivo, or “Dark Beer” in Czech. Clean cocoa maltiness and coffee crisp-like flavours are met with a medium body and a balanced bitterness. Soft, toasty aromatics waft up to your nose as the glass touches your lips. Brewed with floor malted Czech malt and Czech grown Saaz hops, this 6 week lagered, naturally carbonated Czech-style Dark Lager is the perfect winter acquaintance.

Dark brown, medium head. Toasty, slight molasses sugar note. Low bitterness but pulls in some of the complex dark malts you want in this style. Not full malt development...guessing not double decoction...but the bones of a good tmavy are here.

4oz pour at The Magnet. Pours black with a beige head. Tons of roasted malt and toasted nuts on the nose. Flavour has a strong roast character, quite nutty, some dry grass that levels it out a bit. Decent hoppy bite. Fantastic.

Poured from 355mL can ala Four Winds Beach House (thanks Terry; pkg 17/10/24). Very dark brown with beige head. Light toasted malt, dry and earthy, not bad.

473mL can, pours dark brown with a medium beige head. Aroma brings out toasted nuts, bready malt, and a hint of dry caramel. Flavour is nice and malty, with plenty of bready malt, a hint of dark fruits, toasted nuts, and gentle earthiness. Really nice bready malt and toasted nuttiness on the finish. Very good for the style.

473 ml can. Pour a dark brown with full head. Aromas of dark caramel, dark fruit and sweet roasted malts. Flavors follow same with some subtle earthy hops and sweet bready malts. Right on style. Nice
