Biotransformed IPA with Rakau, Laurel and Vic Secret
A new language of yeast-driven IPA is emerging and Dageraad wants to add to the vocabulary. These IPAs are driven by new strains of yeast that can transform odorless compounds in hops and grain into vividly fruity thiols, changing understated old world hops into fruit bombs.
New Slang is a series of new IPAs where we will explore combinations of yeasts and ingredients to see what new taste experiences we can create.

Can from Legacy LRS, Vancouver; screw me, this was canned 2023-09-27, 4 months old
Cloudy blond colour. The aroma is still fruity, light dankness, garlic, manure. Dry mouthfeel, mild wheat (or white bread) flavour, bold bitterness with bitter citrus peel, but no other bright elements from the hops.
Pleasant, it will go fine with dinner.

Poured from 473mL can (canned 2023/09/27). Hazy yellow with small white head. Melon hops, a bit pithy, on par with other New Slang beers.

On tap at Dageraad, pours a hazy golden blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out plenty of stone fruitiness, some citrus hops, and a touch of biscuity malt. Flavour is fairly fruity and estery — I guess that's the thiolized yeast — with gentle citrus hops, a touch of stone fruits, floral notes, and plenty of esters. Not very hoppy — more a function of the yeast. Timid, estery, not hoppy, but nothing wrong. Like previous versions on this series, this continues not to be my favourite.

Opaque, medium head. Fruity, decent bitterness, fairly hoppy. Not as bright as some others in this series.
