Ale fermented in oak refermented on Grenache and Marsanne grape pomaces from Upland Vineyard, and Boushey Vineyard.
Our second iteration on this beer. The first was inspired when we got this insane Grenache pomace from our buds at Avennia Winery. Aaron brought it back to the brewery and when we opened up the doors to the truck it just smelled like muddled cucumbers, in the best way possible. I immediately just threw away the existing plan for the blend and grabbed all the gin barrels we had and made the beer. This time we were prepared to make it and we were also able to get Marsanne pomace to coferment with the Grenache. The result is a little bit paler than the 2020 version, but the depth of fruit character is much better and the blend of gin beers is MUCH more gin forward. Normally I'm really light handed with the gin, but this blend is Transmigration-ish in its balance of fruit, gin, and the kind of spritzy citrus/floral Floodland fermentation character.
The emergency that caused us to have no green glass late 2022 and early 2023 ended with us buying clear glass to keep bottling, and this is the final of those bottlings. The grape beers which tend to have longer aging times and where the hops are more diluted with grapes don't skunk, so the clear glass works great for them. This beer is a beauty and I really hope you all enjoy it as much as we do. It's one for the books.

750ml (thx, Joe and Josh for a pick-up and delivery!) shared with Ryan (Alex was grumpy as usual and passed) @ home. Appearance: almost clear copper with a white head. Aroma: lots of grapes and oak, some acidity and rustic notes. Taste: along the same lines, lots of grapes, oak notes, some acidity. Overall: good one.

Poured from 750mL bottle. Clear light amber orange with small white head. Juniper quality upfront with some muted underlying vinous pomace notes, decent.

Tap at Ridgewood. Dull salmon colour, no head, the aroma actually kicks off a bit of acetone -fruit, too, but there's something on the ferm. Soft brett c and a bit of pedio in here -light plummy fruits so there's a lot of good but this is definitely handcuffed by something that didn't age out. Weird this is a blended beer, because it feels more like something that would be blended. Well, I have a bottle, too, so at least I'll find out if it's the tap or what.

Snallygaster 2023. Pours pinkish. Red grape, raspberry, careful tartness, minerally, rose. Medium body. Amazing.

On tap at Ridgewood, pours a clear amber with no head. Aroma brings out rather funky vinous notes, a touch of sulphur, and a tinier touch of oak. Flavour is more acidic than expected, with subtle grape skins, toasted grains, funky yeast, and oak. This isn't coming together like most Floodland beers - the body lacks dynamics, the malt bill seems thin and grainy, and the grapes are rather timid. Unimpressive.
