On tap at brewery. Pours black. Aroma has roasted malts and some woody and pine hops. Flavour has excellent balance of toasted malts, pine, and resin. A bit oily on the palate and well-carbonated. Very well-balanced. Excellent beer.

Dark brown, medium head. Fairly chocolatey on the nose, good malt complexity and some leafy hops accents. Fairly dry, good bitterness, roasty finish. I'd definitely prefer more malt sweetness for balance, but the austere malts and leafy, slightly piney hops works well enough.

On tap at East Van, pours black with a small tan head. Nose is robust, with lots of roasted malt and plenty of wood hops. Flavour is robust and balanced, with tons of roasted malt, aggressive woody hops, and gentle earthiness. Surprisingly bold and well-balanced. Apparently they can brew if they try (or fluke out and get lucky?).
