1st August 2025
ADTWD team tasting in sunny Halzlemere. Opaque dark brown beer, small and short lived dark tan head. Rich dark chocolate malts, a modest milk chocolate where the nicely judged vanilla intersects. Barrelling tastes like whiskey - bourbon, be nice to get the full sp on this please Cycle. Rich ripe fruity bourbon, a slight woody bitterness. Smooth finish brings more bourbon and rich chocolate. Not the most complex of Impies but rich and rewarding.

Bottle at the 270 tasting, at the Mount, 01/08/2025.
Black topped with a fast escaping khaki head.
Nose is chocolate, dark malts, spice, hint of vanilla, dried fruit rinds.
Taste comprises molasses, bourbon rip, raisins, fruit cake, chocolate, spice.
Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced boost.
Tidy.

Dark brown, inky, and no head. There's a big vanilla note, lots of powerful dark malts, light fruitiness on the aroma. It's definitely appetizing. On the palate, it's got a rounded vanilla character and big, deep stout - dark chocolate, and fruit.

750mL bottle, pours jet black with a tiny head. Aroma is complex, with lots of decadent bourbon barrels, complex vanilla, and a touch of molasses. Flavour is complex as hell, with tons of deep vanilla, plenty of bourbon barrels, and a touch of sugars but not that sweet in general. Complex, almost a touch of tartness that I could see getting worse over time. But it's great now.

Poured from 750mL bottle. Near black with minimal tan head. Lots of woody bourbon barrel, mild vanilla, really nice.

Sample kindly served by Doug. Appearance: very dark brown with a beige head. Aroma: mostly American oak with some vanilla, bold, a bit sweet. Taste: along the same lines, not sure I can find vanilla here, though, mostly just a liquid oak. Finishes with charred oak notes. Overall: good one.
