Rated at Badassriver Beer Lodge Platinum Edition. Sweet, roasty and syrupy with some barrel and oaky notes, hints of stingy wood and earthiness. Quite sweet and heavy.

Bottle. Pours opaque black, small tan head, good lacing. Aroma is roast, cocoa, marshmallow, vanilla, bourbon. Flavor is medium plus sweet, light bitter, integrated, smooth, excellent. Full body, creamy. A wonderful example ofc what you can do WITHOUT adjuncts.

Poured from a 500 ml bottle. Aroma is malt forward with lots of bitter and dark chocolate, lighter notes of caramel and hints of roast. Moderately strong barrel notes with rum bourbon and light oak and alcohol notes. Hints of dark fruit. Pours jet black with a small, thick, dark mocha head that recedes steadily to a small film that lingers on the edges. Light lacing and fairly long legs. Flavor is fairly sweet with fairly strong dark and bitter chocolate notes and quite a bit of caramel. Lighter roast notes and hints of leather and dark fruit. Medium high bitterness and light alcohol notes. Moderately strong oak, rum and bourbon notes. Mouthfeel is full bodied with medium carbonation. Low, but present astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall, a solid imperial stout with a ton of barrel character. The rum character is a bit overpowering for me, but it has nice dark fruit notes and balances out the bourbon character.
