Inspired by the International Nettle Eating Competition held at our local Bottle Inn, Marshwood, we decided to produce a nettle beer. The result is a refreshing IPA where citrus fruits and floral aroma and flavour combine with a hint of nettle and a long bitter finish.

Spotty beige head on a murky amber coloured body. Sweet fruity aroma. Medium bodied, no carbonation & clean on the back. Floral, earthy, bitter & farmyard tastes with a hoppy finish. My first Nettle Beer - now that's unusual!

500ml bottle from Rock Villa, Beer, Devon. BBE 04/23. Poured a murky medium amber colour with no life. The aroma is malt, light woody hops. The flavour is moderate bitter, with a light, malt, light grassy, nettle, light floral hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with flat carbonation. I was really looking forward to this but it was massively disappointing. More like a home brew gone wrong.

Cask at the Blue Boar, Leicester at 5.3%. Hazy gold with a slightly loose white head. Quite a lot of visible natural carbonation. Light aroma, some orange peel, some floral perfume, a little bit of lemongrass. Sweet taste just at first turns to an impressive bitter with a dollop of astringency in the finish. More light citrus peel in the aftertaste. Very decent if not world-changing, quite old school.

Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - golden amber with no head really. Nose - oranges and honey. Taste - more of the same. A bit liqueur. Some resin. Palate - close to medium bodied with a tangy texture and a long dry tangy finish. Overall - solid but not special.
