A blend of two multigrain saisons, fermented with a mixed culture of brewer’s yeast, brettanomyces and lactic-acid bacteria, this is our second entry to the Enology Series. These saisons were aged in barrels for one and two years respectively before being transferred onto Petit Verdot pomace from the Okanagan’s Painted Rock Winery for further conditioning. The result is intricate vinous flavours interwoven with the complex funk and tartness of a mixed-culture saison.

Ingredients: Water, Malted barley, Petit Verdot pomace, Wheat, Oats, Spelt, Yeast, Hops, Brettanomyces, Lactic acid bacteria

Purplish. No head. Slight haze. Vinous, nice juicy acidity, fresh and bright. This is good stuff.

750 ml @ Matt's new place. Appearance: nice hazy purple with a bit of rose-ish head. Aroma: a mix of grape must and cherries (if I wouldn't know it's a grape beer, I would say it's more like a cherry beer), nice funk, barrel-added complexity. Taste: along the same lines, lots of grapes notes, some grapes acidity, a bit bubbly. Overall: nice one.

Poured from 750mL bottle. Hazed dark red with small pink-ish white head. Some nice grape must, buggy, quite nice.

750mL bottle, pours a hazy deep dark reddish amber with a medium faded pink head. Aroma brings out red wine grape must, wild bugs, a touch of oak, and rustic notes. Flavour is very grape-forward, with some grape juice, red wine grape must, a touch of bugs, and gentle oaky tannins. A bit too much grape juice character, but there's a nice buggy, musty grape skin character. Very good.
