750 capped from bu11zeye. Pours dark brown/black with a transient tan head. Arom of rum, booze, wood, med dark fruits. Med + body. Very smooth, smokey, woody, rummy, especially rummy. Very nice. Oh, and dark treacle. Pretty tasty stuff.

Bottle shared tonight by Dr Rob, thanks for the opportunity! Huge smokey campfire with hints of caramel and chocolate offset with light sweet molasses. Decent brew, but the apple brandy worked better.

Location: Bottle (as pictured) from Buy Rite, 11/11/13, It's 11/11, Rating #3300!, Bottled in 2/13, I think that should cover all the number/date information...
Aroma: The nose is smokey and and a little sweet, some vanilla and oak, light rum, and peat
Appearance: It pours a dark brown color with a small beige head and some drippy lace
Flavor: The taste is a good mix of smoke malts, plenty of sweetness, and subtle bitterness
Palate: The body is medium-plus, smooth and soft on the mouth, and minimal burn for this ABV
Overall Impression: Look at that, tick #3300! I'd like to thank all those that made this possible (particularly my liver). As for the beer, this is a really nice smoked porter with a subtle, but noticeable rum flavor from the barrel aging. It is smooth and drinkable. It works best at cellar temperature. I enjoyed this one. It make sense that my 3300th tick would be from my top state. This is another excellent beer from Captain Lawrence.

750ml bottle pours a thick, opaque black with some spitty, beige head. Nose is big, bacon and smoke, lamb fat, maple syrup. Flavor is the same, maple, sausage fat, malt, molasses. Full, smokey finish. Very messy.

Pours dark brown, really fantastic head retention and lacing. Nose is fairly sweet almost grape like. I only get a hint of licorice and smoke. Ugh. Incredibly smoky, very unbalanced. Rum is not even noticeable. What the heck? A smoked beer needs to be balanced and this is like drinking a camp fire. Sorry.

Bottle shared by Adam, thanks! Pours a near clear deep brown with a brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a bit of dark fruit with a nice rum note and some earthy dark grains and a touch of oxidation. Flavor has rum throughout with a touch of light fruit and a strong dark grain and roasted malt note.

Bottle: Poured a deep dark black color porter with a large dirty brown color head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of roasted malt and residual sugar with some medium smokey notes and some light funky Brett notes. Taste is a very well balanced mix between some smoke notes with dry roasted malt offset by some residual sugar and light molasses notes with some notes funky Brett notes on top of this mix. Body is about average with good carbonation and alcohol is very well hidden. Rum notes provide a nice sweet edge without overpowering the rest of the flavours. Very well brewed and something I would like to drink on a regular basis.

Bottle. Pours black. Tan head. Nose of roasted chocolate malt, BBQ pork, smoke and rum barrel. Taste is the same, lots of smoky BBQ, roasted chocolate malt and rum barrel. Slight hint of a medicinal finish with some bandaid.

2010 bottle shared by MikeTD. POurs with a big, black body and a tan head. Aroma is very powerful. Notes of rum, pencil shavings, alcohol, medicinal, scotch/peat, apple wood, apple wood smoked bacon, and bandaid. Flavors are big and roasty with notes of rum, SMOKE, and leather. Lively bubbles. Medium dryness. I think I prefer the smaller, "infected" and less smokey versions better.

Pours jet blck with one finger creamy beige/purplish head that dissapates rather quickly. Tons of smoke on the nose that helped clear my cold some. Tastes is very smokey with some rum indeed althogh I wouldn’t consider this an island beverage. It warm and boozy with bitter dark chocolate and coffee, and some fig sweetness. Nice monday beer on this frigided evening paired well with my New York strip steak and organic mac & cheese. Ah the things that are consumed when the wife is out.
