Gravity cask at the 2016 Cambridge Beer Festival. The colour is somewhere between golden and golden brown, with a tiny bit of white head. Lovely aroma with a massive floral hit (the promised gardenia no doubt) along with swathes of apple butter and elderflower presse. Taste: sweet, sweet, sweet. This is as sweet as a beer can be without being unpleasant. But it’s lovely, and perfect for the recipe. Some bitter/sourness in the finish. Oily body. I’ve had three beers from this brewery and they’ve all been really good.

Cask at George, Croydon. It pours hazy amber with a small white head. The nose earthy, grainy, toast and floral notes. The taste is crisp, floral, hay, earth, potpourri, toast and light citrus with a dry finish. Light-medium body and soft carbonation. Nice floral mild action.
