Gravity dispense at the 32nd WHOAF, 21/11/14. Black with moderate tan edgeing. Nose is rich dark fruit rinds, spice, dark berry fruits, leather, earthy, light chocolate notes, woody, whisky tunes. Taste comprises spice, liqourice, boozey strains but kept in check, roasted notes, chocolate rub, more whisky than the nose comes through. Full bodied, fine carbonation, woody whisky kiss in the close. Solid BA old ale.

Gravity cask at the WHOAF 2014 - London. Pours clear deep brown with a weak tan bubble head. Lovely dark fruit nose with nips of fig and date, subtle cocoa, a bit of wood, berries. Medium to bigbsweet flavor with nice smoky character, some peat, earth, dried fruits, burnt toffee, dry charred wood, some raisins. Full bodied, oily and chewy, with fine carbonation. Warming finish with sticky sugars, lasting peat smoke, further dried fruits, earth, burnt toast. Great stuff overall. Punchy but with good depth.

Cask at the 32nd WHOAF. It pours oil black with a small bubbly tan head. The nose is sweet, chocolate, sweet highland park whisky, maltesers, mild acidity, treacle, berrys/grapes, vinous, wood and tar. The taste is rich, earthy, wood, leather, roast, pepper, big whisky character, charred wood, medicinal notes, warming alcohol, liquorice, milk chocolate, maltesers and earth with a drying finish. Full body, light carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Punchy and flavoursome. The nose is almost addictive. Rich and complex. Great stuff!
