Bottle 2013 vintage gladly offered by Mortlach in King Arthur in Ciampino-Italy, before his sobriety period. Grazie. Caramel pour a bit bright, little ivory gassy foam. Nose: cherries, a bit balsamic, herbs, brandy. Mouth is a bit watery, under spirit cherries, oxidation, does not mirror the nose.

Bottle @ Johnny’s off license, Rome. Hazy reddish brown with a small offwhite head. Aroma is light sour with some malts, light caramel, wood, brett, cheese notes, red berries. Flavor is malt, sourness, little sweet caramel, bretty, red berries, balsamico, blue cheese, wood, light boozy. Medium body, soft to medium carbonation, dry light acidic finish. 080414

Bottle shared big thanks to Luca (Mortlach) at Ma Che, 08/02/14. Hazed chestnut brown with reddish hues topped with a moderate off white covering that dissipates to spotting. Nose is woody, fruit skins, light balsams, dank, musty tones, earthy, tarte berry fruits. Taste comprises ripe plum, sultanas, dank straw, raspberry balsams, tarte berry fruit tang, oaky wood tones, red wine cork. Medium bodied, fine carbonation. Good stuff, lots of depth, does not give away 10% ABV !

07/11/2013 Ma che siete venuti a fà (330ml bottle). Ambrata carica, intensa, bellissima, schiuma leggerina. Al naso è molto complessa, acidula, sentori di frutta sotto spirito, cacao, note legnose, vinose, alcol. In bocca mostra una complessità sorprendente, pur lasciandosi bere con relativa facilità (considerando i 10 gradi), dolciastra all’attacco e acidula sul finale. Corpo medio-pieno, consistenza oleosa, carbonazione bassa. Che birra!
