Tasting at Bruce’s Pad. Thanks to Paul. Hazy deep brown beer. Bubbly pale tan head. Palate is light and semi dry. It’s a light touch of dark malts but it carries good coffee and a touch of dark chocolate.. Good pine hops, bitterish. Light dry finish.

Bottle shared at Bruce’s, picked up at Glug, Newcastle. It pours deep brown with a small beige head. The nose is pine, roasty, toast, cocoa, earth, juicy citrus and a touch of alcohol. The taste is roasted malt, toast, pine, earth, cocoa, orange peel, blackcurrant, resin, liquorice and light alcohol with a dry, bitter finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. A juicy and flavoursome Black IPA. Well-integrated flavour and very drinkable. Nice.

Bottle shared at my 5K tasting at Bruce’s pad, big thanks to Paulo - the CDA finder general, 13/11/13. Extremely dark mahogony brown with a moderate light tan covering. Nose is light roast, toasted malts, pine, earthy hop presence, bitter tropicals, grapefruit. Taste comprises earthy hops, pine bite, cocoa, grapefruit, light smoke. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry roasty tones in the finish. Wow - this totally delivered and way exceeded my expectations ! A CDA from a pretty prominent ’up there’ draw !

Bottle shared at Bruce’s in London - thanks to Paulie. Pours clear brown with a frothy tan cap. Nose holds burnt bread, cocoa, burnt pine, background grapefruit. Medium sweet flavor, some flinty minerals, sturdy roast, well toasted bread, oily pine, baking cocoa. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Moderately resinous to finish, dirty pine, earth, baking cocoa, well roasted malts. Solid offering.
