Pours a deep dark brown colour with an average sized foamy beige head that settled to a thin layer. Aroma is light roasted malts, dark toffee and smoke. A light roasted malty taste, some dark toffee and smokey flavours. An earthy woody bitterness and smoke to finish. Interesting, in a good way.

(Cask by gravity at White Horse, Parson's Green, London, 25 Nov 2017) Dark brown colour with foamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of caramel, dark fruit, nuts and a touch of smoke. Malty, roasted taste with caramel, chocolate, liquorice and a mild smoke flavour in a finish with a balanced roasty bitterness. Medium body, with a slight sweetness. Tasty and well balanced, with a gentle smoke touch. Nice one.

On cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell. Deep chestnut with a loose cream head; aroma of richly roasted malts with a touch of smoke; earthy, nutty, malt taste with a well-balanced twiggy bitterness and a touch of chocolate; some lingering smoke to finish. A good, full-bodied, porter.
