Clear dark amber to mahogany colour, medium sized beige-is head; aroma of dried cherry, plum jam, raisins, slight licorice and butterscotch; taste of burnt plum jam, some licorice and anise, biscuity and nutty notes; good one

Keg at the brewpub - Roma. Pours clear, deep amber-red, with a super tight, lasting khaki head. Nice aroma, some ripe berries, toffee, prunes, brown bread. Medium to big sweet flavour, with minimal bitterness, creamy toffee, a little doughy brown bread, ripe berries, mellow alcohol, perhaps an impression of cocoa, some raisins, dates. Full bodied, smooth and chewy, with fine carbonation. Lightly warming finish, with more rounded toffee and ripe berry character, relaxed booze notes, some vanilla, more raisins. Overall, outstanding. Textbook doppelbock.
