Ein fast ausgestorbener Bierstil wird in der Brauerei Strate gehegt und gepflegt. Karamellaromen und der Duft von rescher Landbrotkruste bestimmen die Nase. Hinzu kommen leicht nussige Noten und etwas Toffee. Die Gaben von drei Hopfensorten bringen würzige, blumige und auch zitrusartige Aromen mit ins Bier. Das Zusammenspiel von Hopfen und Malz ist sehr gut ausbalanciert und Dank der Aromenvielfalt ein sehr komplexer Biergenuss.

Bottle. Clear dark gold/amber with a decent white head. Aroma of malts, caramel and herbs. Taste of caramel, bread, malts, grains, herbs and malt lozenges. Moderate bitterness. Medium carbonation. Not great but süffig.

“Detmolder Festbier“ der Brauerei Strate, Bügelverschlußflasche von BierSelect.de. Ein Festbier mit nur 5 % und - noch schlimmer - bloß 11° Plato - da hat ja so manches süddeutsche Pilsener schon mehr Körper. - Rotgold, klar. - In der Nase mattes, mild karamelliges Malz und scheue herb-fruchtige Noten. - Antrunk schlank karamelmalzig und trocken mit Orangenschale und krautiger Herbe. Durchschnittlich rezent, für ein Festbier eher dünn, kaum malzsüß. Im Abgang trocken mit nicht zu knapper, leicht ruppiger krautiger Hopfenherbe. - Wie befürchtet eher dünn, auch ein wenig unrund aber doch ordentlich gehopft. Gut trinkbar.

0,5 l bottle from Bierzwerg, Greven. Clear copper in the glass with a big frothy light beige head. Looks good. Smells decent malty. Taste ist malty, caramell, light toasted grain with a low sweetness. Easy to drink. Okay.

500ml bottle from trade with Erzengel! Many thanks. Pours amber, large white head. Aroma is grainy biscuit malts. Taste is fairly light, mild caramel, weak hop, a bit past it.

Flasche aus Bochum! Amber golden with a beige head. Malty start, some nuts, some dusty hops. Shy hoppy finish. Quite mild and timid, but ok.

(swing top bottle) Clear, deep golden to amber colour with a medium-sized and slightly off-white foamy head. Bready and slightly oxidized malty aroma with notes of caramel. Moderately sweet and slightly bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a modest carbonation. Cara-malt character with bready notes, caramel, delicately herbal hops in the background, slightly oxidised taste; sweet-bitter and mildly caramelly finish with little herbal spice. So là-là. 13.V.16

Klassische Bügelflasche: Deep golden with a reddish sheen, small and quickly collapsing head;mild dryish caramelly nose , nutty and very faint metallic traces underneath; light to moderate sweetish-bitter flavour, quite light bodied, not really soft;slightly lingering caramelly and nutty finish with certain delicate metallic tartness. Not really convincing…

Bottle 500ml. w. swing top @ home. [ As Detmolder Festbier ].[ Trade by Beerhunter111 ]. Clear medium amber orange color with a large, frothy - creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, nutty, toffee, light hoppy, dry grass. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average to long duration, sweet malt, old malt, caramel, hay - straw, nutty notes. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. Sampled @ Finest Spirits and Beer Convention Bochum 2014: Orangegoldenes Bier mit schöner weißer Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr malzig, fruchtig, leicht hopfig. Geschmack getreidig, malzig, langweilig.
