Bottle 50 cl. Pours a reddish brown with a slight haze and a small, beige head. Sweet, perfumy aroma with an edge of licorice. Medium body, quite some booze notes, again strangely perfumy and very sweet malty with a late bitterness and booziness. An odd beast that will definitely knock you out. 110717

Bottle. Pours hazy copper brown with airy but stable beige head. Clear aroma of caramel and malt, with fruity and estery notes. Bitter taste of alcohol, with notes of lozenges, fruit and wine yeast and touches of hops. Bitter and fruity afteraste. Quite unbalanced and rather strong. Not very impressive. In no way a Black IPA, or any IPA for that matter.

Bottle, 9.4%. Mild liquorice aroma. Very dark brown colour, seems hazy. Good stable creamy light brown head. The flavour has some liquorice and a harsh bitterness. Slightly sweet finish, but mostly bitter. Perhaps alcohol bitterness, actually. I do not like alcohol bitterness.

bottle. quite old. bbf 05-2016. dark brown, smooth brown head. mild roasted malty aroma matched up with quite a nice us hoppy note too. the hops are relatively american and agressive which i think suits the style well, and good to see ørbæk not being afraid of making something tasty. flavor is roasted malts, anise, hops, wood, licorice. The high abv is nealy perfectly hidden, i had no idea it was that strong, but after realizing i do notice a syrupy boozy flavor note in there too. A decent warming beer from ørbæk / klosterbryggeriet.

Sample from 50 cl bottle. Pitch black with a thin, off white head. Roasted aroma with dark malts, yeasts, fruits, chocolate, coffee and licorice. Light sweet, honey impressions. Taste is sweet roasted. Full body, oily texture. Finishes dry and roasted bitter with honey and dark malts. Nice.
