Keg tap at the Drayman’s Son, Ely. Impenetrable dark brown with very little head. Smells of liquorice, liquorice, burnt coffee and liquorice. The heavily roasted malts take the fore in the taste but there’s also a marshmallowy sweetness from the oatmeal. Nicely carbonated body. I took to this.

Keg at BDSB - London. Pours oily black-brown with a creamy, tan head. The nose holds luscious chocolate character, moderate roast, dried berries. Medium sweet flavour with well rounded chocolate, some bitter dark chocolate, fudge, mellow earth, raisins, ash. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Somewhat sticky sweet in the finish, with notes of vanilla, creamy chocolate, burnt toffee, more dried fruits, berries, toasted coconut, figs. Great stuff overall.

Keg at the Brewdog shepherds Bush. An opaque black brown coloured pour with a a lasting mid tan creamy head. Aroma is soft woody roast, dried fruits, figs, milky roast. Flavour is composed of soft mellow roasted barley milky choc, tangy fruits, hint of ash in the finish. Palatr is medium bodied, creamy, moderate carbonation. Nice lingering earthy, woody roast.
